Calibration requires a stable air flow. A bench wind tunnel or a control duct with a master anemometer works. Place the scanner probe and the master probe in the same cross section. Compare readings at three points. For a 0 to 30 m/s unit, use 2, 10, and 25 m/s.

A velocity scanner does not need a pipe of exact DN for calibration. The probe measures local velocity. However, if the scanner calculates volumetric flow, the duct area must be entered correctly. An incorrect duct area produces a flow error even when the velocity reading is correct.

Temperature compensation matters. A hot wire probe reads true mass velocity at the sensor. At low flows below 1 m/s, natural convection can disturb the reading. Calibrate at the same temperature and humidity range as the field or apply a correction factor.
